Kansas

Dr. Abidullah Ghazi and Bassam Helwani visited Kansas City on the weekend of Feb 25, 2012 to share with the community the recent activities with IQRA. The visit was sponsored by Midland Islaic Council and Shawnee Mission Islamic Education Center (SMIEC).

The tweet below shows a translated tweet from Arabic to English posted by IQRA’s Bassam Helwani in March of 2018. He is responding to those of us who know the historical ties the Islamic Center of Lawrence, KS has to the Muslim Brotherhood/HAMAS and other jihadi hate preachers like Khalid Yasin.

IQRA’s Beginning

At Harvard University in 1968, the Ghazis questioned how they would teach Islam to their children. Deciding to make America home, they knew they had to nourish their children’s fitrah with more than the memorization of Islamic tenets.  Even more, they wanted their children’s Islamic education to positively impact those around them.

Their answer? As educators – by training and vocation – they conceived an entire curriculum of Islamic Studies, based on the traditional madrasah syllabus yet framed within a modern educational methodology.  Inspired by Jewish and Catholic approaches to religious education, they created rudimentary syllabi, textbooks and workbooks.

Along the way, they gathered like-minded Islamic educators and professionals until, in 1983, their collective efforts coalesced to found IQRA’ International Educational Foundation.  Since then, the Ghazis and the IQRA’ staff created the defining Program of Islamic Studies, which includes 150 books of syllabi, textbooks, workbooks and teacher’s guides.

Another name listed on the IBERR website is Dr. Wael Mirza

The Middle East Forum reported the following about Abdul-Hamid Abu Sulayman in 2009.

Dr. AbdulHamid Abu Sulayman, one of the most important figures in the history of the global Muslim Brotherhood. According to various biographies, Dr. Abu Sulayman was born in Mecca, Saudi Arabia and received his BA and MA at the University of Cairo and a PhD in International Relations at the University of Pennsylvania in 1973. His global Muslim Brotherhood affiliations include:

  • Secretary General of the World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) (1973-79)
  • Chairman, Department of Political Science at King Saud University, Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, (1982-84)
  • Initial Board of Directors SAAR Foundation (1983)
  • Founding member of The Association of Muslim Social Scientists (AMSS) (1972) and its former President, (1985-87)
  • Rector, International Islamic University Malaysia (1989-1999)

Dr. Abu Sulayman is currently Chairman of the Board and trustee of International Institute of Islamic Thought (IIIT) and its former president and founding member. IIIT was founded in the U.S. in 1980 by important members of the Global Muslim Brotherhood who wished to promote the “Islamization of Knowledge.” IIIT was associated with the now defunct SAAR Foundation, a network of Islamic organizations located in Northern Virginia that was raided by the Federal government in 2003 in connection with the financing of terrorism.

Sulayman was the Secretary General of WAMY from 1973-79 as noted above. Discover the Networks bio on WAMY below

The World Assembly of Muslim Youth (WAMY) is the world’s largest Muslim youth organization. It was founded in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia in 1972 by longtime Muslim Brotherhood member Kamal Helwabi, who went on to serve as WAMY’s executive director until 1982. Apart from its international headquarters in Saudi Arabia, WAMY also maintainssatellite chapters in 56 additional countries and is affiliated with some 500 other Muslim youth groups on five continents. The U.S. branch of WAMY was incorporated in 1992—in Falls Church, Virginia—by Abdullah bin Laden, nephew of al Qaeda founder Osama bin Laden.

Below the secretary-general of WAMY 2005 described “Muslim Privilege” to those who do not share in jihad…… Note this comment was made on IQRA TV.

6.7 On-line Islamic University

Brother AbdulHamid Abu Sulayman is to be consulted to comment on the feasibility of establishing an on-line Islamic University.

So in 2001 the Muslim Brotherhood was thinking about an Online Islamic University…….

Welcome to

The Daily Caller 3/16/2018

Here in the United States, certain programs attempt to combat extremism behind prison walls, including the adoption of federally-appointed religious chaplains responsible for curating and distributing religious material to prisoners. But among the Muslim chaplains appointed by the Federal Bureau of Incarceration is one Mutahhir Sabree, who has served as an imam at prisons in Estill, Williamsburg, Bennettsville, and Edgefield, South Carolna; Jesup, Georgia; and Tallahassee and Mariana, Florida. In fact, since 2007, Sabree has held 29 contract positions throughout the US Department of Justice.

Sabree is also, however, the U.S. Director of Operations for Islamic Online University (IOU), an organization founded by the notorious Salafi imam Bilal Philips. Philips has in the past been banned from several countries including Great Britain, Australia, Denmark, Germany, Kenya, and Bangladesh for his ‘extremist views’. He was also named as an unindicted co-conspirator in the 1993 World Trade Center bombings. No less unsettlingly, the British Prison Services have banned Philips’s book, “The Fundamentals of Tauheed,” from its detention facilities—putting it alongside other banned texts by prominent Islamist leaders Hassan al-Banna, Sayyid Qutb, and Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi.

One of IOU’s programs is its Prison Initiative, directed by Sabree, which seeks to distribute IOU coursework to Muslim and non-Muslim inmates in prisons across America. According to its website, the professed goal is to assist Muslims in preparing for life after their release by offering them the “true, peaceful and authentic teachings of Islam” in the face of an increase in terrorist groups who “falsely attribute themselves to Islam.” Prison Initiative’s website boasts of over 1100 registered inmates, with 500 currently enrolled and taking classes in 22 U.S. states.
